Dr. Jesse Silverman
January 7, 2021 - March 20, 2021
This project documents Jesse Silverman, a ‘94 graduate of Cornell University, specifically the College of Veterinary Medicine, and the owner of JS Farrier Services, a company specializing in equine hoof care on Eastern Long Island. As a farrier, Jesse is responsible for the trimming, molding as well as the physical application of the horseshoes, if necessary; in other words, his role as a farrier not only combines some blacksmithing skills but also requires a great deal of knowledge regarding basic equine anatomy and proper hoof care. Having said that, the process of shoeing provides a variety of different benefits for the horse including ensuring proper balance while also providing ample joint support and aiding in overall athletic performance. With that said, my project depicts the different types of environments that he works in, the types of clients that he works for, and also the different tools that he uses on a daily basis in order to properly execute this job.
A HUGE thank you to Jesse Silverman for making this project possible!
