tREIBER FARMS

July 4, 2020

Treiber Farms was founded in 2014 by a father and son duo, Peter Treiber Senior (Owner) and Peter Treiber Junior (Farm Manager). Our small but close-knit crew is a group of creative types who enjoy not just farming, but also cooking and preserving, woodworking, ceramics, printmaking, writing, and more.

At Treiber Farms, we produce a diverse range of flavorful foods for chefs and eaters on Long Island and beyond, and we cross-pollinate agriculture and the arts through collaborations and events, with every step rooted in a creative and resourceful approach.

Statement from the Farmer:

“My name is Peter Treiber Jr.  I came to work on Treiber Farms in 2016, two years after my father, Peter Treiber Sr. bought the first tract of land in Southold.  My initial intention was to learn about the food we eat and make some art in my spare time.  Later in my time on the farm, I realized that it could all be looked at as one way of life.  As the 2017 season came around I took a more active role in building the farm business and shaping the land that we grow on.  Even as my responsibilities grew and the studio practice shrank, I never lost sight of my desire to bring the two worlds together. Since then we've created a beautiful space, grown many crops to be proud of and worked with some incredible collaborators; artists, galleries, musicians, DJs, film makers, distillers, brewers, herbalists, chefs, floral designers, ice cream makers, clothing brands, ceramic artists and natural dyers, to name a few.

We thrive in a creative space that is not defined by one thing or another.  We are a farm that wants to provide a space for all to do their best work.”
